Spiritual Capacities Training
Spiritual capacities that empower church leaders to inspire their congregations and reach new people in their neighborhoods.
RESPONSIVE DISCIPLE-MAKING & DISCIPLESHIP SYSTEMS
When the pandemic left people isolated and surfaced problems in our society, many churches realized that their approach to making disciples was not meeting the needs of today's world. Now, more than ever, we need to explore and experiment new ways of fostering faithful disciples for our new era. Responsive Disciple-Making is an approach that recognizes the essential organic nature of the disciple making process and practice. Whereas many disciple-making tools are refined around one specific approach, responsive disciple-making recognizes that multiple specific approaches are necessary, but they can be built off flexible principles and practices.
BREAKTHROUGH PRAYER
Prayer, though we all recognize its importance, often gets lost in the midst of the busyness of ministry. Perhaps it is because church ministry is complicated, and overwhelmed leaders can find it difficult to focus and connect with God. Or, perhaps it is because we don’t find effectiveness in prayer in the ways that we read about in the Bible in the testimony of church history or other leaders. Most of us long for this kind of prayer life and action, but we don’t know how to uncover it. Prayer has been a foundational part of the Fresh Expressions movement and through the Center for Remissioning, we want to help dynamic prayer be foundational for all church leaders.
EMPOWERED WEAKNESS
Every person carries a wound that will never fully heal. Unresolved trauma is carried in our bodies, communities, and societal systems. If it goes unresolved it spills out in patterns of harm and is passed on intergenerationally. As we say in the recovery fellowships, “hurt people hurt people.” If people can go through a process of healing, they often discover that their greatest wounds and challenges can become their most powerful assets. This is true at both an individual and organizational level.
