Incarnational Innovation [i2]

We all know, ‘this time calls for innovation’ - but how do you do it?

Our imagination, creativity, and playfulness are all reflections of God in us. What could the Church become if we were able to tap into a Spirit-inspired imagination? What if we used our creative nature to enrich His Church? What if the Church's relationship with God was a playful, joyous one? What if our innovative efforts were rooted in the creation story and the incarnation of Christ? What if we could see, hear, feel and understand people’s needs with deep empathy, just as Christ did?

The Case for Creativity

Watch this mini movie on why we, as individuals and churches, must embrace creativity and innovation.

  • "Our team consistently cited [the i2 Accelerator] as one of the best learning experiences of the year. We gained important knowledge and skills while having fun and stretching our creativity. We continue to implement ideas from our original work that are having an impact on ministry in Minnesota.”

    Jody Thone

Director of Leadership Development, Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church

  • "The [Accelerator] put flesh on the design thinking process that allowed us to open up our creativity employing empathy, playfulness, and imagination, and at the same time giving us very practical resources! Our team left encouraged and into the free-flowing, playful mindset to innovate a new thing!”

    Rev. Dr. Fred Vanderwerf

Southern Prarie District Superintendent, Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church

  • "[The i2] process was THE key factor in helping our team to unlock the creativity we needed to take some crucial next steps. The emphases on empathy and divergent thinking were especially helpful and led us to strategies we would never have thought of without their guidance."

    Rev. Cullen Tanner

Technology Specialist, Minnesota Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church
